Guiding Patients into Treatment
The last step of the detoxification process is to ready the patient for the actual recovery process. As drug detoxification only deals with the physical dependency and addiction to drugs, it does not address the psychological aspects of drug addiction. This stage entails obtaining agreement from the patient to complete the process by enrolling in a drug rehabilitation program. La Ventana believes the social aspects of recovery are vital and often not emphasized enough in treatment. Authentic connection and community are two of the foundational principles of La Ventana’s treatment philosophy. Staff work one-on-one with clients to find sponsorship and to cultivate a warm and compassionate recovery community that aligns with the client’s true self. As treatment inevitably creates change, clients chart a new course for their future as they begin to explore and develop new and healthy ways of relating to themselves and the world.
While La Ventana as an institution is non-denominational, they understand that spiritual coaching is instrumental in ensuring a successful outcome for a majority of clients. Twelve-step programs are highly beneficial for most clients, and having said that La Ventana also understands that some clients wish to seek alternatives to twelve-step groups and in these cases they are introduced to other programs, such as SMART (CBT-based) Recovery or Refuge (Buddhist-based) Recovery.
